Crossing Bridges - Lexicon

Crossing Bridges is back with a small ambient EP. Beginning with some lighthearted, bouncy synths plucking and dancing throughout the stereo field. Then ‘Lexicon’ the title track feels like you’re flying through the center of the cover art. It’s this weightless sound created from some leftover B-Side track from THTOWI. This might be the most ‘spacey’ track this project has made in a while. The final track fits its title quite well. It’s an icy sounding tune with several synths peeking out in-between the waves of sound created from the breezy pads.

Released: December 9th, 2021

Fever Aches; itsokaylove - Warm for the Holidays [single]

A lovely little collaboration between myself and itsokaylove. Who provided some lovely piano samples that the whole song was based on. After adding a few wintery elements like high pitched reverbs and sleigh bells it was the perfect tune to release for the holidays and winter season. Hope you enjoy the sleepy and moody collab ~ Check out the visualizer here.

Released: December 2nd, 2021

H A C E; Kiko Kaid - haha okay [single]

Blending the dreamy guitar and flow of Kiko Kaid with some dark sounding lofi textures and attitudes typically found in a H A C E tune. Long drawn-out chorus that begin to waver and ebb towards the end of their tails. Guitar plucks and chime-like bell synths dance around the track as the beat steps in and out of focus. Simple and smooth lofi chillhop tune ~ Check out the visualizer here.

Released: November 28th, 2021

Yiddle - Concrete Behold

Minimal, cold and passive. More background music from Yiddle. Originally one large song that would have gone at the end of a large Crossing Bridges album that is now multiple EP’s spread throughout the collective. After being chopped up, edited and warped it’s become this art piece of sound almost. It’s feels like a cold unforgiving winter; the soundtrack to a landscape painting. Feels like everything and nothing, I used a combination of several digital instruments to make this sound.

Released: November 7th, 2021

RANDEL .the ghost. - E M P T Y

Created from unreleased Imisu songs from 2017. Completely reworked through pitching and warping throughout the entire EP. Using dusty and gritty textures and elements to give it a haunted and broken feeling. Feels like you are waking up alone in a ruined future. The unnatural pitch bending mid ‘melodies’ gives off the feeling of uncanny broken tech. Cassettes will be available early next year via ATMO.

Released: October 31st, 2021

Aura Lynd - When You Were Young (The Killers Cover)

Always felt like the original could have gone a different way. I also wanted to keep this version minimal and stripped down. It just felt right to me I’m not sure why. I’m happy how it sounds and it came out exactly how I imagined. It was a lot of fun to record these style vocals. Not sure if I’ll continue to do covers like this in the future. Check out the music video.

Released: October 25th, 2021

Imisu - Little Threes

Third iteration of the 'Little' series from Imisu. These are live and improvised. Using the same looper pedal from the previous releases. This latest installment features much more concrete song structures, experimental moments and of course... layers and layers of guitar.
CD’s and Tapes available here via Gulf Spa Records.

Released: October 22nd, 2021

Imisu - Ethos

Giving this project it’s own lofi release finally. Incorporating that classic Imisu guitar layering with some soft percussion and grooves. Wispy guitar melodies blend together with fx layers and synths to give smooth and subtle movements throughout the EP. Split release with Tsunami Sounds.

Released: October 18, 2021

L a z u l i _ y e l l o w; Vivi Vulture - Secret Levels

Proud to present “Secret Levels” as a full 50/50 split between myself and Vivi Vulture (Matt Walsh). I feel like the album is a perfect blend of our styles. Matt is a great keyboard player and has written a some amazing progressions and ideas that I was able to write on top of and manipulate. The process was always some variation of us sending one another half a song and we would finish or craft it into something different. A blend of vaporwave, mallsoft, vgm and so much more. Tapes are available via Global Pattern each tape comes with custom Lazuli & Vivi trading cards!

Released: October 1st, 2021

Lollobye - Waves

Live looping synths. Creating some simple passive textures. Inspired by simple still moments in retro video games. Used a chain of volcas and guitar pedals with my micro korg & yamaha keyboard.

Released: September 13th, 2021

Kiko Kaid - Beaming [single]

Bringing back some of the vibes found in "Water Keys"
Full, yet muted and rounded chords that carry the song from area to area. Incorporating plenty of guitar. Light noodling that dances around the palm mutes. Very slide-y melodies that bring the song to those spacey - otherworldly moments using the signature Kiko delay/reverb combo. Special thanks to Kiwi Bear Records for releasing this on their label.

Released: September 10th, 2021

Just the Architects - Off Shoulder [single]

Leaning more into more energetic tunes with less filler. Diving right into the chorus in the first seconds of the song. Special thanks to Zach Jaworski from Twin Beds & Rip Fruit Records for performing, engineering and recording some awesome drum tracks. Also building the lore of JTA in some small ways with this new song. In the bridge of there's a nod to Bleached Bison where I use this 'signature' sound by warping / processing myself whistle. The lyrics "Sky, Sun, Reflect, Sea" will be a common theme throughout the collective.

Released: September 4th, 2021

Crossing Bridges & Violet A. Foster - The Backrooms OST

I wanted to create a soundtrack to “The Backrooms.” The idea of an endless maze that is just beyond our reality is quite inspiring. I’ve always been enthralled by things like this, from slenderman/marble hornets, to the SCP foundation. These ‘internet urban myths’ are so fun and creative I felt like I had to contribute. The album is a blend of light and dark drone ambient. I feel like after years of blending and warping I’ve finally honed in on my style of ambient. Big thanks to NoProblemaTapes for the split digital release. Without their help I wouldn’t have been able to sell out of tapes within 24 hours. First time ever doing tapes all on my own! More physicals being planned for the future. Thanks to everyone who supported this album!

Released: August 17th, 2021

Lollobye 1.jpg

Lollobye - Bedtime

A new sleep music project. Simple and contemporary soundscapes. Keeping the instrumentals subdued and quiet. Incorporating textures & themes of wind, rain and nature throughout. The purpose of the project and the album is to create music for young children and babies to calm and help sleep. I wanted to write something a little more interesting than those white noise albums intended for sleep. Could definitely be seen as VGM as well. More from this project on the way.

Released: August 8th, 2021

Imisu - Still Searching

Another batch of songs I’ve had for a while. There was a point in my life where I would write an Imisu song at least once a day. I have so many in my backlog so it's great to finally get back to them. Recently touched up and mastered. These were written in the time span of 2015-2018. I can just barely remember writing any of these. It's just a fog now. But re-listening back certainly is a vague trip into nostalgia. Getting back to the original sound of the project. Guitars and synths with effects piled on top to create this mesh of sound.

H A C E - Mythical [single]

Released via GXNXSIS RECORDS: Stepping away from the minimal lofi / adult swim vibes and working on getting more of the backlog out to the world. This is some dreamy other-worldly sounding lofi tune. Wurly winding electric guitars sliding in and out, glossing certain chords in a way that adds movement to the air. Lot's of percussion and textures that really put you in another place.

Released: June 25th, 2021

Saturn RAYS finial.jpg

WAVE COMPLEX - Saturn Rays

WAVE COMPLEX is back with a huge step up in production and writing style. While still keeping the energetic quirkiness that is this project. Saturn Rays is much more beat driven than previous releases. Upbeat, fun and futuristic. Includes features from NOYU.SIR & _XPRESSWINDOW that pairs nicely with the new sound. More easily digestible music coming this year.

Released: June 17th, 2021

zihn1.jpg

Zihn - PATHSCROSD

An introduction to the new aggressively chaotic project “Zihn.” Starting out with four tunes of random electronic nonsense. Throwing as many layers as possible together and this is the product of an afternoon of experimenting. This first release leans on the aggressive and ominous vibe. Keeping nothing consistent and honestly sounds a little different every time I listen back. Written in 2019, wasn’t sure how to release it or if I ever wanted to. But here it is and expect more aggression and more controlled chaos in future releases.

Released: June 5, 2021

WAX.2.jpg

NOYU.SIR - WAX.2

The WAX series continues with these 2 new tracks. Also includes a remix from L a z u l i _ y e l l o w and a re-titled remix by NOYU.SIR of the opening track STOLEN. That features Becka Lundy’s operatic voice (also featured in “Ultisa” from Imisu) in a warped haunting way that blends perfectly with the aggressive dragging beat. The goal was to create a wall of sound paired with a simple beat. CUT is a more chill track on the mix.

Released: June 1st, 2021

5.jpg

H A C E - 5

Easily the best H A C E release to date. Continuing the vibes from Pines EP. H A C E 5 comes with 11 new dark lofi tunes. Inspired by nostalgic video games and adult-swim esc vibes. Sitting on the side of ominous and mysterious. Featuring more sensitive songs from this project. Some moody, sad, sleepy moments also scattered throughout. The slow drag of each song has you dive deeper into the subtle psychedelia that is 5.

Released: May 8th, 2021

Crossing Bridges - Us [single]

Experimental lofi from Crossing Bridges. Hinting back at the “sampling public domain songs” sound featured in previous releases. Using a the sample as a base then adding keys, bass and drums to fill out textures yet still keep that classic vibe. A sample project between myself and Steven Jon of Oh Yeah Cool Films sampling Paul Robeson. "Paul Robeson was he original black superstar. Fluent in 8 languages, pro football player,-list movie star and stage performer. He was progressive politically and was blacklisted as a communist in the 70s, thus the current anonymity."

Released: May 7th, 2021

Imisu - Skydream

Getting back to the original vibes of this project. Skydream is composed of all guitar. Jumping back and forth from acoustic to electric on each track. Just several layers of twinkle emo guitar with some automation of effects throughout. Before I would always write moments that would be very stationary. These feel much more active and flowing, like they are leading somewhere or just slowly swimming through the air.

Released: May 3rd, 2021

Magic PalaceFINAL.jpg

L a z u l i _ y e l l o w - Magic Palace

No samples used. This is somewhat of a part 2 from “TAKECAREOFU”
Really proud of this one. Maybe I'll continue this style later this year. Released with Virtua94 and they had this to say about it.
"Philadelphia resident L a z u l i _ y e l l o w joins the Virtua94 team with their newest project "Magic Palace", a handful of tracks that will keep you in a total state of daydreaming through the city, while bringing you back to life with its ambient arrangements and cosmic euphoria. A very settling EP to help you completely disengage from reality and understand a deeper side of yourself within its realm of subconscious atonement."

Released: April 30th, 2021

Terpenes EP.jpg

Suri Sunriser - Terpenes EP

Inspired by the Happiest Hour’s different terpene shots! Just a quick EP I made while trying out each of their shots. From upbeat to slow and sleepy theres a bundle of different vibes in here. The song Mend features some fun twinkle emo guitar I haven’t done in a while. Take a shot and enjoy this fun lofi EP from Suri ~

Released: April 26th, 2021

Kiko Kaid - Mushrooms

Light, breezy and groovy. This whole EP sits more on the jazzy side for Kiko Kaid. Slipping in and out of moody and lighthearted. While still using all the elements and instrumentation you’d normally find on a Kiko release. You can hear some new elements like flute, bells, and strings. Full smooth chords lead each song accompanied by wispy layers of keys and guitar. Features a track with Crossing Bridges; using a blend of soft strings and sampled strings to create a nice retro vibe. “Who are You Kid?” is completely inspired by Lemongrass.

Released: April 20th, 2021

L a z u l i _ y e l l o w - TAKECAREOFU

A dripping mesh of sound. No samples used. With heavy processing and warping my own voice features on the title track. The whole EP is different versions of the same song with slightly different elements, timings, pitching and processing. Each a different experience yet cohesive with the rest of the songs. Track 4 however was composed of completely different samples. It was almost like a challenge to myself to make a song that can continue the vibes of the rest of the EP. Limited tapes sold out immediately, thank you so much Underwater Computing_ and to everyone who supported this release.

Released: April 16th, 2021

Aura Lynd - s/t

Three songs I’ve been holding onto for a while now. Originally written for Fever Aches when I was doing more vocal stuff for that project. But now after some touch ups and mastering these came out to be some pretty good bedroom bop tunes. Having a mixture of drum machine and lofi beats. Heavy layering of guitars and vocals with driving bass guitar and synth. There’s some really cool moments in these songs. Happy to finally release them.

Company You Keep-1.jpg

Just the Architects - Company You Keep [single]

Using new techniques and approaches to write this new wave of tunes from JTA. Aiming for that late 2000s neo-psychedelia indie vibe. Stoney beach rock for the suburbs. Using big reverbs, delays and layering I was able to achieve that washed out sound with some clarity left in. Still bouncing around different styles but expect more full band styled songs from JTA this year.

Released: March 30th, 2021

Wuhu Island.jpg

L a z u l i _ y e l l o w -
The Hidden Temple of Wuhu Island

My first plunderphonics styled album. Warped and skewed take on the Wii Sports music catalog. I grabbed a huge handful of my favorite tunes from the games and created this within a few days. I don’t remember much of creating this honestly. It was just a blur of chopping, warping, pitching and layering with my own instrumentation and plenty of field recordings and SFX. Thank you to anyone who picked up a tape and a big thank you to OasisLtd for bringing my designs to life and hosting them. More great albums to come from L a z u l i _ y e l l o w this year!

Released: March 26th, 2021

Crossing Bridges - The Tower

The Tower is a dreamy synth heavy experience. Using similar elements and instruments throughout the EP to create a cohesive blend of sound. Written improvised and impulsive. My intention was to create something that kept you in a feeling/moment yet didn't seem repetitive or drone-like. Electronic ambient music that breathes and moves. Also used some binaural beats for the first time to really give it that meditative vibe. More ambient on the way from Crossing Bridges this year.

Imisu & Lazyboyloops - Resin [single]

I sent LBL some unreleased Imisu tunes to sample flip and throw some drums on. They came back with a beat, bells, a bass and a well chopped Imisu tune. I made a few adjustments and added some layers of vocals to be the icing on top. After a mix and master it was done. Really happy how these collaborations are coming along with Imisu and other great lofi artists. Checkout more tunes from Lazyboyloops.

_XPRESSWINDOW - BODY OF LIGHT

A step into the otherworldly for _XPRESSWINDOW. Showing a softer side to this alias; keeping the energy meticulously tamed throughout the EP. The beat seeming almost invisible. The heavy use of side-chaining is hard to miss and gives rhythm and movement to each track in so many ways. Almost like the drums are the final cog to connect everything and have all the pieces work together seamlessly. In addition I used several textures of percussion and vocals to give it that ethereal and otherworldly vibe.

Released: March 11, 2021

Yiddle - Rest EP

Contemporary, simple and light-hearted. Some basic soundscapes I've created testing out a few different instruments. Created for passive listening; video game inspired. Wanted to capture that 'paused' feeling in some exploring / adventure game. Yearning to stay in those moments we have the ‘Rest EP.’ These are somewhat B-Sides to a new project I'm starting with music for children, babies & new mothers. More on that later this year.

Released: March 3rd, 2021

Violet A. Foster - Post-Spirit Final.jpg

Violet A. Foster - Post-Spirit

Dark and expressive drone-ambient; the classic Violet A. Foster approach with a twist. These were fully created songs I’ve written with the sole intention to massively distort and warp until they were completely unrecognizable; and that is how I got ‘Post-Spirit.’ There is a lot more movement and variety of textures than normal in at Violet release. This is all steps into advancing the project into new experimental paths. An attempt to truly create something out of nothing. Somewhat of a "let the chips fall where they may" approach.
*Split release w/ ATMO Records

Released: February 26, 2021

OobiesuFINAL.jpg

Fever Aches; Kiko Kaid - Oobiesu + Dream Skipping

Released as a single then a 3 track EP on streaming services. These songs were originally pretty basic Kiko Kaid tunes before Fever Aches stepped in. Using the signature Fever Aches distortion vocals and acoustic guitar for background textures. Random quirky percussion and other melodic elements softly flourishing out here and there. Overall a dreamy, simplistic and low energy lofi EP.

Released: February 19th, 2021

Vol-2 rework.jpg

Undertakes Vol. 2

This years collection consists of more “put-together” songs that I left out of certain releases. Last year focused more on revamping and 2nd versions while this year hosts a plethora of cutting room floor songs. Most of these are from recent and future releases that I cut out last minute or just didn’t fit the direction. Features a RANDEL .the ghost. tape remix, a Suri Sunriser remix of line leader, a long lost Larry Nodder demo, horn features from Daniel Thomas, 2015 demos, and everything in-between!

Released: February 7th, 2021

Ozymandias’ Dream & Imisu - Enchanted

Emotional driven lofi. Using several tunes from the Imisu catalogue (released and unreleased) were sampled flipped by Ozymandias’ Dream. After some warping and cutting OD created something magical. Psychedelic lofi with a indie / emo twist. This EP does an excellent job capturing the dreamy sound of Imisu and the groovy lofi vibes of Ozymandias’ Dream.

Released: January 19th, 2021

H A C E - Pines EP

H A C E is back with a tight cohesive EP of jazzy lofi and boom bap styled beats. Using samples of keys with heavy augmentation, layering and warping throughout. Playing guitar and bass in expressive experimental styles to blend in with the groove of everything. Several tunes showcase more minimal, deep and rich tonality through the layering of keys. The EP progresses to more “adult-swim” late night vibes with more expressive layering of samples, guitar and percussion. More to come later this year.

Released: January 18th, 2021

Kiko Kaid - Crystal Window [single]

Released through Colours in the Dark for the first time. Trying out some completely new things in this tune. Might be the best Kiko track yet. Using several layers of piano, keyboard, and synth to make those full sounding swells. As well as layered a 12 string acoustic guitar with some tasteful licks on my electric. Kept the beat simple with some flairs here and there to help embellish the melody. Hope you enjoy! Stay tuned for the full compilation!

Released: January 8th, 2021

H A C E & Buck the Lackey - Muddled Vibes

Playing around with drum loops late at night with my buddie Branden Bauer (Buck the Lackey). Using whatever we reach within our arms length we used several nonmusical items as instruments to create extremely subtle background textures. As well as playing around with a nylon acoustic guitar and some keyboards. More to come from H A C E soon!

Released; January 3rd, 2021

Ambient Fingers 4.jpg

Ambient Fingers Vol. 4

Unlike anything I’ve ever done before. An ambient album composed of all voice. No instrumentation used. I wanted to capture that empty wide sound that I feel only voice can project. There are scenes in my head that I just jumped to and stayed there as I recorded. Just getting lost in the echo and layers of my own voice. I combined Aura Lynd and Just the Architects this year because they are the lead vocalists of the Collective.
Inspired by Geotic - Sunset Mountain.

Released: December 25th, 2020
